Re: 65 chevelle parts I.D.

Thank you guys I wonder what the purpose of the 6 sided washers is ? There's a post on team chevelle recently about people taking things apart and not thinking it will be forever before you put it back together. Here ya go . My grandson is here on leave from the navy he welded up the exhaust for me and helped me hang the doors I hope to get the radiator support and fenders back on before he heads back to San antone texas, It takes 2 years to get a security clearance is that nuts?

Re: 65 chevelle parts I.D.

The hex washers are to make it easier to line the bumper height up. Notice the hole is not in the center, so if you rotate the washer the height of the top and bottom of the washer (versus the hole) changes. The front holes in the front bumper brackets (and the rear holes in the rear bumper brackets) have catches that stick out on them above and below the hole, which match up with the total width of the hex washer. So once you get the bumper height where you want it you can spin the washer around to match up with the catches in the bracket, and it will help to hold the bumper height where you have it until you get the bolts tight.

to clarify the note above about the cupped washers, they are for the two bolts that go straight up from the bottom of the middle of the front inner fenders. You should have two more for the other side.

I believe the washer were made that way , to adjust bumpers . Reason for the hole being off center .

Great advice guys I never would have guessed. I spent several hours aligning the doors today looks like there in the ballpark . The hinge bolts kit only had 6 of the 12 flathead phillips and the hardware store only had them with allen head. Guess I'll try a different supplier.
