Tom
that color with that hood & the shaved grill emblem looks awesome. I must be getting tired of all the stripes & badges on all these cars(mine included).

Sorry about that. I use my phone and couldn’t tell. I’ve always admired the look you have achieved, you nailed the stance and made a great choice of wheels.

In 71 and 72 a big block 396/402 was also available in the "HEAVY CHEVY". It would have a turbo 400 trans or 4 speed manual and a 12 bolt rearend. It also could be ordered with what we commonly refer to as the SS dash. It came with with a domed hood, hood pins and a blacked-out front end treatment. It would have come with special decals...see photo and no SS emblems. Many of the SS options were available in this model. Model number is 13437.

The Heavy Chevy came with a sweep dash unless ordered with the optional U14 tach & gauge package. Only then would it come with the circle pod “SS” dash.

True. I should have said it was an option available on the Heavy Chevy. I fixed it.

Could you order the SS dash with idiot lights? I would think that an SS dash with idiots lights would be a clue leaning towards it...my thought is that's it's an SS without the gauge package as an option...

The circle pod dash with idiot lights was specific to SS cars. It couldn’t be ordered on a non-SS. The circle pod dash with tach & gauges could be ordered on any Chevelle.

The only way to get the pod gauges with idiot lights is with the SS package. So you're right and I missed the idiot light statement in your post.
