I'm missing a sill type plate

I've tried to find this missing trim piece to no avail. Any help from you 4 door gurus will be extremely appreciated. I don't know if there was one (looks like screw holes) and if so what they are called.

1966, this pic is taken from the back seat looking at the right/passenger side. That black thing is the retractable seat belt I installed - not factory. The left side is missing too. The car was leaking from the cowl due to it being plugged with tree debris and the carpet was ruined. The previous owner (flipper) replaced the carpet you see. I cleaned the cowl. In his defense he did disclose that the car leaked while handing me the keys (at least he was a nice flipper).

Thanks!
Kurt

I found that a bit a funny cause now there are over 200 views, I guess not many four door gurus around. After viewing a lot of images on google I found two pics that were relevant but they were not conclusive -as in it was not a close up shot and could not tell what was there. I viewed a pic of my 4 dr wagon and there is nothing in that area. This could be cause its a 64 though. It appears, if it's like that on both sides, that possibly some sort of plastic molding (similar to the headliner perimeter moldings) would go there to hide carpet /area seam. You would have to buy oem used or get creative and Fab a piece to put there, which would be easy. And you would still have to paint the part to match your interior color as needed. Good luck.

Re: I'm missing a sill type plate

Thanks for the reply Ed. Yeah, I was kind of headed toward fabing a piece from some sheet metal to see how it looked (card board pattern first of course).

Re: I'm missing a sill type plate

Just saw this. I have a 67 Wagon - the original carpet would have gone up the pillar a couple of inches and been attached via 2 screws that install into the holes evident in your image (if 66 and 67s are the same).

The carpet has a vinyl trim strip sewn on the raw edge of the carpet that goes up the pillar, and the vinyl edge extends a bit under the front and rear sill plate. I had Trim Parts custom make the front carpet for my 67 to accommodate this.

I don't seem to have any pictures of it unfortunately.
