this is very good documentation. there is so much here specific to wagons, it belongs in the wagon section. I know how hard it is to get all that documented. great job.

I wondered about that, as it also has some good info for the folks doing a 2 door install (wire routing and door boot hole sizes, as well as some info on door panel modifications). Your call.

If any one needs the hole size for the " door Bellows " and the rivit spacing. I have two factory " 70 " power window doors in my shed and A cut off a small piece (of a Fac. Doorjam) that can be held up to the door jam to mark your holes and the correct location.

Adding a little to this great write up. Finally acquired a set of power locks and window regulators from a 71 Buick Skylark flat roof wagon. Was unable to get the complete harness for either but have enough to make all the connections on both sides of the boots and to power. The fuse box on the wagons with the both power windows and power locks contain 2 large circuit breakers, if only one system is installed there is only one breaker. I did not take any of that, will be using an AAW Classic update harness so the factory power connectors will not be needed.
All the holes that need to be drilled in the doors and body for both the locks and windows are dimpled to mark the locations and for the regulator mounting in most cases already exist.
For the door boots the holes in the body are 2.25" in front and 1.25" in rear. Hole sizes for the doors are 2.0" front and 1.5" in rear.
My wiring will be real simple, no switches in any of the doors. One 4 gang in the console for all the windows and another single switch for the locks. Front seat passenger can reach the switches, back seaters most time will be grandkids that do not need access to them Also going to add rear door dome light switches and add a second dome light over the cargo area.

Congrats Philip on securing these parts. I know we had discussed this for your car, glad it came together for you.

Power windows and locks in a wagon are neat "Golly, Wow" options, but I am more happy with the ability to actuate all windows and locks from the front seat anytime I want to, without contorting myself to do it.

Same for me, Like the windows down when the weather is nice. I would have been happy with fronts only.
One other thing I am doing is adding a kick panel vent on the drivers side. AC cars did not have one but had one on my El Camino and used it frequently.

I did the vent trick on my 71 Monte w/AC. However I installed the vents on both sides. You're correct, they allow a hurricane of air flow thru.

Tom, can you show details of how the pw and pl wires plugged into power by the fuse block. including the relays please?

Can anyone post pics or refer me to pictures that show the factory location of the power wires for the power windows and locks. Does the small power wire go to the fuse block to provide power when the key is on, and the 2 main power wires go to the horn relay? I an nt asking how I can hook it up, I am asking how was it done from the factory? I took all of this off of a wagon so long ago I just cant remember. it is a 70. there is no relay o the power locks, the are hot all the time. the power windows do have the relay. Anyone?

Pete don't have any photos of the stock setup but the small wire does go to a key on source of power. It closes the relay to allow power to the window circuit. That is the only function of the relay. I left it out on my Nova and the windows worked all of the time.
