elko frame for wagon

Just to confirm a 1969 to 72 el camino will work in my 1972 Nomad wagon? I can get a factory bowed frame that way.

Yes. A 1968 through 1972 El Camino frame will fit, however there may be minor differences in locations of screw holes for Brake Lines and/or Fuel Lines depending upon the model year of the frame.

Thats true lines go inside the C on the non boxed frame. I want to build a frame with some handling parts and this seems like an easier way and get the stiffer frame at the same time.

The 68 to 72 el Camino frame is called the #1942 frame. As far as I can tell, it was only used on 68 to 72 el Caminos and the 69 to 72 Pontiac Grand Prix..

When I bought my 69 el Camino and was taking it for a test drive, I immediately noticed how well it handled and how sure footed it felt over the other A bodys I've driven, even with a worn out suspension, brakes and tires..
Your making a good choice putting that frame under your wagon.. Its very strong..

As Buster says, check with Philip. He did that swap and would know the details.

Re: elko frame for wagon

I have a 1970 El Camino and a 70 wagon. If you get a Wgn. / El Camino Frame,,,, Make sure you get the transmission CROSSMEMBER. WHY? My 70 El Camino had the brackets for the M-22 shifter. Over the years of ownership( 50 this coming march) I stuck a Hurst shifter in it.
Some of the crossmember brackets were not like they left the factory, Due to me with a blue wrench and a hammer. Looking for the El Camino/ Wgn. crossmember with the stock factory mounts, or just a STOCK Auto. Crossmember may cause your blood pressure to rise quite a bit.
The tranny crossmember fits= Wagons & El Caminos !

If push comes to shove, I have one.

Re: elko frame for wagon

It will fit, it will be stronger as its wider in middle use a shorter cross member.
And for others here a 64 to 67 4 door chevelle frame will also fit a 2 door.
We slid one under a 66 chevelle
