Roof racks and well nuts

First question; Roof rack, yes or no? Took mine off years ago, thinking
about putting it back on.

Second question; Well nuts, is there a better way? Thinking of welding in
square nuts to fill the holes to stop leaks and do a better job securing the rack.

And, who do you like for headliners? -lyle

Re: Roof racks and well nuts

If the rack was already taken off the car, I'd leave it off and save yourself from potential water leaks and rust problems… ... besides, you'll probably never put anything on that rack.

Plus it is hard to keep the paint looking good around the rack.

Re: Roof racks and well nuts

Yes, you are right about cleaning under the rack, etc., but... I like the way a wagon looks carrying a rack. I have both the rack and spoiler. My Impala has just the rack, and to me it looks a little naked without the spoiler. And the Chevelle looks really naked without both. Since both need headliners, this is the time to upgrade from well nuts. Which don't make much sense to me. And now I'm thinking of moving the Impala rack over to the Jeep. Don't care for the looks of the factory Jeep rack, and I don't have one anyway.
