Re: Lets see some team El Camino pictures

This has been my baby since 76 and my daily driver until three years ago when we both retired. It has had a hard life. It's been stolen three times and recovered all three times, front end has been knocked off twice, three motors, five trannies, three interiors, three tops, three repaints, last repaint got about five or six patch panels. This poor thing was a candidate for the crusher but I just could'nt bring myself to do it.

Agree, that is a beautiful '72. Is it a 4 speed?

Re: Lets see some team El Camino pictures

Not a 4-speed, plain old turbo 400. I passed on a 4-speed back in the day because
my then girlfriend could'nt drive standard, well, she's gone and the automatic is still here

Re: Lets see some team El Camino pictures

Steve,
I think you will like the vinyl top. I have always liked the look of a vinyl top, after all, it's another option. If you do go with the vinyl top be sure and prep the foof, gutters and glass channels real good and put some kind of protective finish on the metal. Condensation develops very easy under vinyl tops and you know what that means Half of my patch panels went on the roof.

Re: Lets see some team El Camino pictures

Thanks a lot, condensation is my biggest fear with a vinyl top, I've seen some of the pictures of cars that had vinyl tops for a few years, not pretty. I still really want to give it a try though.

Re: Lets see some team El Camino pictures

Steve,
Do it, you'll like it. I put three coats of POR-15 on my roof and then painted the whole truck, no problems.
