There's one huge exception here for me. My EC got parked in north Texas back about 1983-84 with plain water in the block. In all of those years leading up to 2017 when I trailered it home, those cold north Texas winters froze that water repeatedly and cracked the walls of the oil gallery in multiple places. That 350 SBC was hopelessly trashed and not rebuild-able. Keeping it as a numbers matching vehicle was no longer possible.



Therefore, it was resto-mod time and I have not regretted the LS engine swap in any way.
