That's what people have said for a long time but I don't think it is correct in all cases
for example one of the options Yenko used on his COPO Corvairs was
COPO 9981A- wheel cover deletion
that option would not require much engineering

I have seen "COPO SPECIAL PAINT" on a Chevelle build sheet typed in with the RPO codes
I posted a picture of it on here
also have seen "COPO SPECIAL PAINT" on paperwork on a COPO truck builds

have also seen "F&SO paint" on build sheet and also "SPECIAL ORDER PAINT"

I don't know if it made a defferece what it was called as long as they got the special instructions to do the job but a COPO option would need some type of number or code to go along with it.

Re: 69 Chevelle COPO

Wow, nice pics of that KAN build sheet. Great to see another documented Kansas COPO.

Do you know where in the car that build sheet was found? On top of the tank, by the look of it...just curious.

Re: 69 Chevelle COPO

yes this is the only documented Kansas COPO with factory docs. There is a MO Kansas COPO that might be painted Hugger Orange instead of Monaco Orange that is a -- paint code.

The motor number for my Chevelle was T0409MP
Another KAN built COPO Chevelle is out there - Jerry MacNeish inspected this motor back in 2009 or 2010 . . .

This is the motor Rich Pern sold on eBay that Jerry inspected . . .

Not my motor, assembled the day before my original motor . . .
Another GM KAN plant COPO Chevelle, VIN 136379K465533 . . .

Here's the thread from 2007 where I believe it first came to light . . .

So I have a 1969 427 motor from the Kansas City plant and noone believes that a COPO Chevelle was ever built in Kansas City.
