Re: Which MSD pro billet should I go for?

I have (on the shelf) an Accel HEI that I bought 10 years ago to replace the point distributor. Ran great until I took it out because it didn't clear the fuel rails on my MPFI. Replaced it with the MSD std "Pro Billet" vacuum advance distributor and a 6A box I had laying around. Ran perfectly for 3 years until it was taken out and replaced with the MSD small cap "Pro Billet" non-vacuum advance to clear the fuel rails on my stack injection. All of them have done what they were designed to do with no issues. For simplicity, go with the HEI. For special applications use the others requiring a stand alone coil.

The reason I went to MSD 6AL was the coil measured 1.8 ohms and would burn out a module in about a week those $45 dollar ones from Accel would last a few months.

Re: Which MSD pro billet should I go for?

I have heard a lot of things about poor quality control recently regarding MSD products. Alot of other vehicle owners on other forums have complained about issues they have had with MSD products straight out of the box. I used MSD products back in the day so I was disappointed to hear of such quality control issues. I'm not saying to not buy an MSD product but I would have a backup plan just in case for another brand.

I don't know why people keep saying that look at the reviews on Summit 4.8 out of 240 reviews at Crusing the coast last year I must have looked at 5,000 engines and most of them had one mine made a big difference.
