LS6 with 40+ year old paint

I picked up a super clean and complete LS6 last November. It was neglected for many years and as you can see in the first picture the paint really faded badly. I washed the car and removed a lot of the oxidation from the paint with a clay bar and then took the car to my friend Pete at Classic Metal to see if he could bring the paint back to driver quality. So far it’s looking pretty good. 👍🏻

Looking better all the time Steve. Any idea of what you will do with the stripes?

How’s it going Levon? My plan was to leave the stripes the way they are. I like the patina lol.

Re: LS6 with 40+ year old paint

Unbelievable! I didn't think such finds existed anymore.
40 year old paint that comes back like that is preferable to fresh paint hiding problems. Fake patina seems to be the rage, but that is the real thing.

I can’t believe it came back so nicely. Amazing. I would leave the stripes alone. They’re only original once...

No problem seeing them, try a different browser other than chrome. If you want Steve, I can re-post the jpg's here for you?

The driveline is all original except the short block. It was changed under warranty in 1974. It still retains its original M22, and CRW 4.10 diff.
