copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

some of these cars have a really snarly sound, very aggressive. How can a guy duplicate that sound? asking for a friend

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

Wouldn't you need to have same bore size, stroke, comp., cam specs, (LS or ferd motor) then use that sound exhaust? maybe compression & cam then muff could get close?

The Z06 and the GT350's use a flat plane crank shaft. They have a very different sound. It is much louder. They are basically 2 four cylinder engines in one package. They fire every 180 degrees instead of every 90 degrees.

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

My 2013 SS Camaro with the dual mode exhaust system is ABSOLUTE candy to my ears. I'm not sure what the RPO option code is for it but I wish I could get my El Camino to sound like it at a reasonable cost. Holley sells a copy of it in kit form:

https://www.holley.com/products/exha...BoC3JwQAvD_BwE

Plenty of info on the web about it. Lots of You Tube videos for the sound candy. But I think it would be a wickedly difficult retrofit.

The GT350 has a flat plane crank. The new Z06 coming out next year will have one but the current ones do not.

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

Iv'e looked into the process of how they get that sound and it's pretty complex. It looks more like making a musical instrument vs automotive work. Check out a video on how to tune a french horn or something similar cause that's basically how they achieve it . I'm sure it can be done but even with a staff of engineers, techs, sound crew, and all the equipment involved it would probably be cheaper to just do a body swap to get that sound, probably take less time too. But who knows, play around with some different pipe sizes and bends and you might get lucky.

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

The cars you are referencing arenít running stock exhaust, for the factory they are pretty quiet. Your friend should ask the owners of the cars he thinks sound good which exhaust they are running and call those suppliers. Even then, if he replicated their exhaust system it still might not sound similar.

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

Youtube and a good pair of headphones will help. There's tons of exhaust clips on there, but they sound crappy without good speakers or headphones.

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

A good friend has a 17 or 18 Mustang GT (and 3 more of diff yrs) with a supercharger, I'll ask him what exh. he has on it, he also has a supercharged 6 cyl. fox body that sounds pretty good too for a 6 banger

Re: copy modern Camaro/Mustang sound.

You won't get the sound unfortunately. It's due to the head design, intake tracts, etc.

I love how fox body mustangs used to sound with the long tailpipes and flowmasters, but it was mainly due to their long tubular intake design. You can't duplicate that sound on anything else without duplicating the technology.
