I don't think Mark gets on here a whole lot. I have bought parts off him and he is good to work with. I will let Mark provide you with details but if I was to buy what is left of the car I would just buy one of the new dynacorn bodies and swap the vin rather than try to repair what's left.

Re: 1971 SS 454 LS5 /M22 chassis with build sheet

I saw that crushed roof Road Runner that was bought by Mark Worm-man on Graveyard Carz that a tree had hit the roof and totaled it.The R/Side roof and door was crushed by a tree and Worm-man bought it for about $5500. MW and an unskilled helper worked at it with 2 porta powers and roughed it out to where the both windows opened & closed and the R/S side door closed and worked.
So I think unless the roof is crushed to the top of the doors all the way around that there are enough parts available to restore that 71 SS454.
You can get a roof, both quarter panels are available brand new and the inner braces could be sourced used from one of the southwest junk yards. So unless the asking price of that car is too high it could be restored without being under water,IMO.
I'd love to see those pictures of that 71

Here is the craigslist ad for what is left of the car. As you can see, you would really need a new dynacorn body or donor shell to build this car.

Someone please educate me.

Is it legal to remove a vin tag from a wrecked car and put it on a reproduction body?

Shame.

What a terrible way to ruin a high dollar car.

As for the VIN, I used to be against it, but since many state, federal laws have a clause for restoration purposes....I'm on the fence about a dynacorn body. Does a dynacorn body have a VIN or serial assigned to it?

New oil is cheaper than new parts

People have done amazing things with less.

We restored a 48 woody that was a heap laying on the ground.

I don't think they have a VIN or serial number assigned to them. As far as the legality I think it depends on the state. Some car show I watched (overhaulin maybe) I remember they were restoring a 57 chevy and they bought a new body because it was so far gone (assuming dynacorn) and they just had to have a certain amount of the original metal surrounding the VIN to be able to use the same title.
