I am planning on replacing my 2 sp auto steering column in my chevelle with a floor shift column. Is there a difference between a floor shift automatic column and a floor shift manual column. I will have a 4-speed on the floor. This person made it a point to tell me it was a "floor shift" column for an "automatic". Are there 2 different floor shift steering columns ??? Do I even need to replace the whole column or is there a "collar" or part to replace the section used by the column shifter arm? I will be adding power steering in this std steering car also (if it makes any difference)

yes, the automatic column for a floor shift has a collar that rotates as you move the floor shifter, not sure if it is for neutral safety switch. There is a shop here in Dallas, Gary's Classic Chevrolet that specializes in steering colums, he can hook you up with the right one or tell you if yours can be modified
