Its likely to wire the car if it didn't have the original wire. Since yours did, you don't need it.

I'm guessing that the car originally came with the defogger blower. Correct?
So I'm confused. You say its working, But the harness you replaced didn't have the wire for the blower. So what is powering the blower? Originally (factory), there should have been a purple wire from the defogger switch that ran into the trunk along with the tail light harness. Power (orange wire) came from the fuse block with a separate plug into the ignition port. I'll see if I can find it in my AIM. If it's not in there, it may be in the Fisher Body book.
Take a picture of the blower and the wire connected to it.

Re: 1970 chevelle rear blower

This is the only thing in the AIM for the rear window defogger. Its only the dash wiring. The rest must be in the Fisher Body manual. Sorry.

hey chris thanks for taking the time, the harness is as you say all ready to go but in the box was an extra wire white with a black strip to me it looks like a fuse wire the wire is wraped in a cloth jacket as to the vinyl jacket on the main harness..

The wire in the box would have been if the car wasn't already wired for the blower. If you have power from the fuse panel to the switch, and from the switch to the blower. The wire in the box isn't needed. The factory defogger blower wiring isn't normally in the wiring for the tail light harness. It's a stand alone wire.
Hope this makes sense.

Re: 1970 chevelle rear blower

I can't help with the wire color coding but the blower wire runs from the dash into the plastic sheath that runs under the driver's seat.

#4 on this diagram from the 1971 Fisher Body Service Manual.
