72 Chevelle 454 oil sending unit/sensor

Hey everyone,
Need some help with my oil gauge set-up. Looking at the assembly manual, I am seeing what appears to a sending unit that mounts on the block between the #1 and # 2 cylinder and then that mount to a tee at the Oil filter, both on the right side. Are both needed? I have converted a amp meter to and oil gauge and wasn't sure about the other. I have all gauges, no lights in my cluster.

Thanks,
MK

cylinder #1 is on the left(drivers side) and cylinder #2 is on the right(passengers side), I believe you are talking about the Temp sender in that location and the oil sender is above the Oil filter, also on the left side. The side is determined by sitting in the driver seat.
