Tree Poop

Team, I have had a pine tree poop sap on the rear vinly window of my convertible. Afraid to use chemicals to remove it. Any ideas besides cut down the tree and replace the rear window?
Thank you John

Re: Tree Poop

I found that ZEP FAST 505 cleaner works good for removing pine sap and didn't hurt paint at all BUT the cars had original factory paint.

Re: Tree Poop

I am assuming that you have a glass rear window since that was what 1968-72 Chevelle convertibles came stock with.
Something that I use and should be in any serious detailer's bag of tricks is a clay bar & the appropriate spray that comes with it. Of course you need to wash the car off first (very important), then use a clay bar with the supplied spray and drag it across the rear glass until you stop feeling it drag. It will pick up any sap & contaminants and embed them into the clay bar, which you then kneed, roll & flatten to give a fresh clay surface. If you use it on a painted surface you will need to reapply wax; the clay bar pulls up wax as well.

It may also work on a clear vinyl window (64-67) but I have never tried it.

Re: Tree Poop

Isopropyl alcohol will take it right off. I have 200 foot Douglas firs around my house, and use it all the time. Easy harmless.
