I boogered out axle seal on Moser

I puckered the out axle seal installing it in the new Moser rear.

Now I have get it out (slide hammer?) and install some new ones.

Largest socket I had was 2" and it puckered it in the center.

are these standard seals or do I have to get from Moser?

hope I can just get at Napa or something. see pick below.

OD 2.5"

thanks for info

Seals generally have a part number and manufacturer stamped on them. Find it then call your local parts store, they should be able to cross reference it.

Your right Steve. I found them on Summit and they have an application list.

I am pretty sure these are it.

Go to your auto parts store and tell them you want axle seals for a '79 F150 with the 9 inch rear end. Get the bearing and seal drivers while you are there.

I just want to update this post for future reference. I don't know if the op used this part number seal or not. I got this number after contacting Moser back in 2014. After using this, my axle seal started leaking in 2016. I contacted Moser again, and this time received different info. I was told this time to use a CR15142 seal. Also to watch for a seal that is too thick, as it could contact the bearing press ring, and cause a failure. I was able to buy this from Napa, and according to Moser, that's where they get them too.
