700R4 converter flush

Anyone know where I can get a converter flushed and tested? It is a lockup converter. Thanks!

Re: 700R4 converter flush

Any local reputable transmission repair shop can and should do it. They split them around here for best cleaning of clutch fibers / metal chunkage and then re-weld the halves back together. When mine had to be done, the "neck" on it had to be replaced due to wear and the possibility of leaks.

Re: 700R4 converter flush

Nice. no shops around here will do it. I'm in Iowa. there used to be a shop years ago that would drill them, put them on a machine and flush and spin them. reweld them back together. They did it for $25. that was back in the 90's. Most tranny shops tell me i just need to buy another converter. Yeah. a lock up 10 inch 3200 stall converter is NOT CHEAP... i just want mine flushed and checked out. What did that run you? Before you had to have the other work done to it.

Re: 700R4 converter flush

It was part of the rebuild of my 4L60E so I don't have that cost separately listed. I also kept the same stall speed as stock unlike yours.

I can ask the place what they would charge.

Re: 700R4 converter flush

Hello,

Call "Fred" at 318-742-7784. They will do a mail order split, clean and freshen up of your torque converter. The cost depends on how much metal they find and if you need new bearings.
