Transmission shop

I have a Richmond 5 speed (4+1) installed in my 71 Chevelle. I noticed the seals by the shifting rods on the side of transmission are leaking. Called a few shops but they sounded like they don't know too much about this type of transmission. Any help would be appreciated. I live live in the lower NY area.

Re: Transmission shop

I don't remember if you have to split the cases or you can change them from the outside, but they're pretty easy to work on. Call Richmond and they will send you a manual or look on 5spds.com website. Paul has a youtube video on Richmonds including shifting mods.

Paul at 5speeds.com is the best. He’s very passionate about what he does and is a credit to his profession. I bought my Muncie M20 seals from him. He’s even replied to emails during the evening hours.

Re: Transmission shop

Rudy,
I have found that when it comes to anything performance related it is best to ask around fellow hot rodders. There is probably a shop near you that will take on the job but it wont be your typical Aamco etc. Jody's transmissions is probably a bit far, he is in Reading Pa. He is a regular in this forum. He might know somebody in your area.

Re: Transmission shop

I'm not sure if Brian Higgins is still working or retired, but you could call S-K speed and see if they still do transmissions.
Brian has a real good reputation when it comes to the 4+1 5 speeds.
S-K is in Lindenhurst out on Long Island NY.
