KD 2.73:1 ~ 12-bolt (L48/350-4)* / C = Buffalo NY / 327 = 327th day of the year / 1 = 1st shift.

November 9 '71 casting date. Looks like a nice clean rust free housing.

Cool! Thank ya so much! Yea, she’s a peg leg. This is in a 72 Heavy Chevy. Pretty much all original. Replacing springs, shocks, track arms. Had the cover off but couldn’t tell the ratio. Thanks again for the info!

Spin the gear and you may find numbers on it.

Dutch, I’ve had the cover off. Didn’t see anything that told me the gear ratio. I really appreciate the info you provided!

Re: 72 Rear Diff Identification

Y’all, this car is showing roughly 23,000 on the odometer. The more I get into it, the more I’m believing the speedo. Still had original shocks front and rear. All the bushings weren’t bad at all. Replacing it all anyway.

Thanks man! Still has the original door cards and seat upholstery. PO put some cheap ass carpet in it. Haven’t looked to see if the original rubber Matt is under the carpet. Yea, interior is still really nice. Had a Heavy very close to this one back in high school. Same color, that one had a black interior and a 4 speed. This one is an automatic.

Re: 72 Rear Diff Identification

Don't throw away those original shocks and other parts. People are looking for that stuff.
