Need to get a shifter for my RMVB TH400. I think I would rather have a ratchet style . Looking for any good or bad feedback on what yall have used and liked/disliked.
My car is a factory 4 speed with a bench seat. No console in my car.I used to have a Hurst Dual Gate 2, until it broke.
I considered a B&M QuickSilver (that mounts directly in the stock '69 console), but I passed on it because it is a true ratchet shifter where the handle dosen't really move, it just kind of rocks back and forth.
I settled on a GM factory slap shifter (push right and forward to shift, then release and repeat) from a '73 Chevelle. This style shifter was introduced in the '68 GTOs and was also used in several other A Bodies and F Bodies. The downside was I had to install a GTO console (it looks great, but was costly).
If you like the GM Staple Shifter, there's a member here selling an upgrade that allows ths shifter to be a push from 1st to 2nd, followed by a push from 2nd to 3rd. If I hadn't invested in the shifter/console I'd have gone that route. Check it out.
Looks good in the console Kirk!Need Pics Alex
