Moser 12 bolt - order it shortened or no?

Having a Moser 12 bolt built for my 66 Chevelle. Should I take 1" off both sides just to reduce needed back space or not? The car will see no track time but I am building for more of a pro touring type of setup.
Also any thoughts on keeping the front and rear wheel size the same for tire rotation needs? The car won't be driven much so I'm thinking that is not needed.
Thanks
Eric

Have you figured out how much room you will have before you run into issues with the shock mounts and inner fenders?

Yes, with the Moser diff no problem with the shock mounts. I called Moser and asked them. Inner fender should be fine, just have to measure for correct back space and my wheel won't be too wide.

Just be prepared to pay more, for custom wheels w/less offset, with a narrower rear.

I had Moser shorten the tubes on my 12 bolt to accommodate my 15x10s with 4 b/s. Also had the big ford ends installed. No problems with shock mounts, wheels/tires are centered in the wheel wells.

Dot you recall how much you had it shortened? 10" wide plenty for what I'm looking for.

Thanks John

According to Moser, the diff is a bit offset for a bodies, it was a different length for each side. I don't remember how much, that was about four years ago. If you call them they will tell you how much can be taken off of each end.

All Chevy car rear ends have the pinion offset 1/2 inch to the right. Axles are the same length on both sides. The same amount is taken off of both sides when narrowing.

This should be cast in stone so that others don't fall victim to misconceptions.

Just relaying what Moser told me, maybe they dont know the real answer. I never measured when I received the rear end, but it did fit perfectly.
