Rear end identification

Good after noon all I’m new to the site here. Having a real hard time trying to figure out if I have a 7.5 or 8.5 rear in my 1968 chevelle sport coupe I believe it’s the stock rear the numbers I found on the tube are csc70882i can’t really find anymore numbers but it looks like the coil spring perches were added on so I don’t understand any help or info or a process of elimination or dimensions to check would be so helpful thanks

Re: Rear end identification

It's the 8.5, but it doesn't look like an A body rear end. I think someone has modified a later 8.5 and installed it in your car. The 8.5 was not produced until '71, so it can not be original to your car. If your car came with a 10 bolt it would have been the 8.2. The 7.5 was never used in these cars.

Please use periods and capital letters so that this is easier to read. I had to read this 3 times to figure out what you were saying.

Re: Rear end identification

The position of the upper control arm ears look similar to a 73-77 A body rear end. I agree with Freddie, grammar is horrible and difficult to read.

Thank you very much. Sorry for the improper grammar and punctuation. I will work on it. Thanks for the knowledge excited it’s a 8.5.
