72 Chevelle, only heat out of foot ducting

I have been driving my 72 Chevelle around for a while before the snow flys. I can’t seem to figure out why I have no heat out of the dash vents. Everything feels like it’s hooked up. Any ideas, thank you in advance.

welcome to the site;
does your car have AC ??
when you move the lever on dash from floor to defrost;
can you feel/hear the door moving from one position to another??

It is not an A/C car, I do hear something moving but still no dash heat or defrost heat.

I would look under the dash, follow the cables to the levers on the heater box a d make sure the levers or arms are moving when you move the dash levers. jim

Do you have heat? like does it work on the floor? If so, let me know what you find. i can get air to come out of floor, defrost, etc, but when i put it on vent, she now work.

Yes I do have heat out of floor only, I will have to take a look under the dash and see if something is stuck or unhooked.

Re: 72 Chevelle, only heat out of foot ducting

these little doors that direct the airflow get moved around by vacuum actuators. It may be, that you dont have any vacuum going to the control, and without any vacuum, air is directed to the floor by default. I have a Monte Carlo, but i would assume things would be similar. You should have a vacuum line that enters the firewall somewhere behind the passenger side valve cover. You should also have a reservoir that looks like a spray painted coffee can or some type of ball that stores vacuum for the control.

Search around on here for "heater control diagram" or something like that. i know ive seen one.
