Advice for ordering a Gen IV Vintage Air System - 67 Chevelle

I'm going to order a Gen IV Vintage Air System.

I need to specify that I will be using a v-belt system on a big block chevy.

What other details do I need to tell the salesman ?

I used the EZ-clip hose system on my Camaro but it was expensive and I was wondering if the standard hoses were ok to deal with ?

Any options-upgrades you would recommend ?

Thanks !

You'll need to let them know if your car was originally A/C equipped or not.

I can suggest a couple of options. First the vents that VA supplies are junk, especially the center ones. VA offers nicer vents separate from the kit. Do a google search for pics. Next, depending on your interior theme, you might want to upgrade the controls. I used this Dakota Digital unit in my '67 pro touring car...

Yeah, I remember ordering a center vent from Classic Industries for my Camaro. Probably should do that for the Chevelle too.

Ausleys had a list like this : Belt system (v belt), Water pump (short), Engine (BBC), exhaust (headers), Factory non-ac, Alternator (driver side)

Did you use the supplied hoses or use the cut-to-fit EZ clip system ? I was leaning toward the standard hoses.

They have an order form, https://www.vintageair.com/instructi...der%20Form.pdf

Real nice folks to deal with, they will alter any part of the kit if needed. I ended up not using them in favor of just parting together a frankinstein system, it was a whole lot cheaper, my car did have factory AC though.

Vintage Air is very helpful...........they will walk you right thru the order. I've done 4 of their systems, they're very good. The unit in my 71 Chevy pickup has been in the truck for about 18 years, works great even after all this time.

I'll agree on upgrading the vents. The side vents look cheesy, I upgraded those to the factory looking option.

On the center vent, I stayed with the ones supplied. While I do agree that they aren't very good quality the only other option I saw was for the factory style. The problem I saw with those was that it only rotates up and down no derecting air to the sides.

I talked to a member on here who used the factory style center vent and after doing a multi day trip he was going to swap back to the style that directs air to the side.

If someone has a sorce for a better quality center vent that directs air to the side I'd like to see it.

On the controller, I used the Vintage air three knob controller.

MCB's is where I ordered my VA system & the Dakota Digital controls. They have the best pricing on pro touring parts & great customer service. Usually free shipping too.

I just sent an email to MCB. I didn't see any sales prices.

Does the 3 knob controlller have a housing to fit where the slide control cables went ? Did you make your housing Senna ?

I also wonder if the 3 knob controller eliminates the fly-by-wire setup?

If you get the EZ clip upgrade do you get credit for deleting the standard hoses ? Questions, questions

MCB will email prices.

Yes, I fabricated my own housing for the controller.

It does eliminate the adapters that would have gone in place of the cables but still has it's own wire.

Yes, they will price it for the parts you want.

FYI, VA just released a new controller also. You might want to look at.
