Replaced radiator and made a big screw up.

So I converted my 66 283 cid to a automatic trans. Whe I got the car I was give a spare radiator but with the auto trans cooler built in. So I had the rad re cored and put it in today. I realized even though it looked the same I did not realize the upper rad hose which I needed on the driver side is on the passenger side. Screwed up bad. I am now looking for a stock thermostat housing the same as I have but pointing to the passenger side? And not chrome. See photo, Thanks

Probably not what you had in mind but once you paint it orange, it won't be as noticeable as the radiator hose being on the wrong side. Maybe the radiator shop can move the neck on the tank, or just buy a new radiator and sell the one you have on CL.

Not sure what it was meant for with the left hand neck but is the same in every other way. Did not even compare the 2 when I re cored it, my big F*** up and the re-core was not cheap.

Maybe its a 64-65 radiator you had recored?
They used a straight housing and a different hose.

Does anyone maybe have the correct upper tank in good shape to sell? Maybe I can have the shop just change the tank for me.

This can be turned to use on right side. I am not positive it will clear oil fill.

Thanks for the thought, after reading your post I ha been looking at photos and it looks like you might be correct. I am either going to get the T-stat housing that swivels or the 64 parts for now so I can use the car. I will look for the correct upper tank and have the rad shop change it so the re-core is not a total waste and it is correct for 66. Now to find the cprrect upper tank with finger guard.
