Aftermarket A/C Cooling good or mediocre?

Iím planning to put an aftermarket A/C in my 69 Malibu: How satisfied are you with the cooling results (& instructions) of your Vintage / Classic / Southern / Other brand?? that you have installed? Anybody had more than one of these in your vehicles to compare results between them? Thanks.

I installed a Vintage Air system in my 70. It works quite well, this was the first time that I have ever done an A/C install and I thought the instructions were very good.

I also installed a Vintage Air system in my '71 and couldn't be happier! This thing blows ice cold!!

I also did a vintage.
It’s cold...
But I pull over 700hp and when I jam on it
I toss the belt...
Still trouble shooting..new shorter belt
And a new Kwik performance bracket
And I think I have it figured out

Opt for the hoses that you have to crimp the ends, in my application (64 passenger side compressor) the sure fit pre crimped hoses were not clocked in ideal position, they work but could be much better if I had clocked them and crimped locally.

The instructions are okay, some steps out of order but if you read through first then modify with some common sense you will be good to go.

Re: Aftermarket A/C Cooling good or mediocre?

I put CAA in my Ď68 BB ElC a few months ago. I hated their idea of a glovebox replacement and ended up fabricating my own. Their new upper center vent bezel did not fit and I had to do some surgery on it. They sent the hoses in bulk with all the fittings which I had to cut and send back for crimping. Initially I was annoyed by that, but in retrospect, it was nice to be able to make them all the right length and clock the ends properly. Their instructions were about 99% good. Once in and charged it works great. I chose it over Vintage only because I liked the hose routing better. With Vintage, you lose the passenger kick panel vent operation on the Ď68.
