Sorry, I am not the type to take a chance on it. It's too important. I just paid the $139 to get a real deal authorized copy from Microsoft. Not too much to pay for peace of mind and support if I need it.

No worries Bill.

Idk how far you are from one of my favorite stores, its called Microcenter. Sometimes they have deals where you buy something and they sell other things cheap. I bought something there once and got a copy of Vista or some version of windows for free.

You should google maps "microcenter" and see if there is one fairly close. They stock PC parts, cases, TV's monitors etc, their employees also get constant training on the various components they sell for any answers you may have.

www.microcenter.com

THEY SAVE ME MONEY. Prices in comparison to newegg and you walk out with it, don't have to wait for shipping.

since i seen this thread - i started using the MS Media Creation tool
it works for 32-bit and 64-bit machines;
so far i've been able to update about 25-computers to windows10pro from windows7pro...
if you have a win7home version it will only upgrade it to win10home = fyi...

i'm getting ready to upgrade this current computer which is win7pro also...
total cost was time, to learn & a flashdrive for file backup and to carry the tool from computer to computer...
hope this helps others
