Darn, they think they found a leak in the intake manifold.

Would this cause my high water temp problem?

Looks like a lot of "stuff" is going to be pulled off to get the intake sealed.

What other symptoms would I see if the intake is leaking?

Thanks.

Three things can leak from the manifold, oil, vacuum and water. Water will leak outside the engine or into the oil. Your oil will turn milky white. I can't see water leaking from the manifold by itself causing high temps. Of course if enough water leaks your in trouble. Maybe a bad head gasket??

A vacuum leak is going to cause the engine not to run right, ie-idle problems.

You will see the oil leak.

Let us know what they find out.

1badrat,

Thanks!

I'm guessing it might be a little of both, intake and head gasket.

I saw a little oil on the starter shield when I took it in.

I may not have a cooling problem. I may just be overly concerned. But, there's definately an oil leak some where.

I'm going to go look at it today.

hey tony,
this is just out of curiosity.
What did you do with your old motor. 396 was it? It would go great in a 68 camaro that i'm workin on.
Also, in that vid. clip of the old motor in your car, was that cam THAT big, or was the person sittin in it playin w/ the throttle?

just curious.

Matt,

I've just decided it is for sale, the 396. It has 4,000 miles on it.

Look for my new post, you are not going to believe it.

If you are interested with the 396, let me know...email me.

Thanks.

Tony
