1966 Chevelle Horn relay wiring..HELP !

I have replaced all the wiring for my 1966 Chevelle Gauge Dash wiring harness including the forward lamp harness from M&H #10065 my question is how do I wire the Horn relay M&H does not provide any wiring diagram and the 66 Chevelle manual is very vague not showing what wires go where ? I have 4 wires with the new harness 1-heavy red wire spade connector, 1-double green wire push connector, 1-black/white wire with spade connector, 1-black wire with push connector that I believe to be the horn ground but still dont know where it goes to the horn relay ? Also a new horn relay was purchased at the same time I purchased the wiring harness

Re: 1966 Chevelle Horn relay wiring..HELP !

Here's a later model so your relay won't have the pink/black wire for the key buzzer circuit but basically they are wired the same.
green to horns
small black to horn button
big red to double "Bat" terminal bus bar

This was someone else's picture but I think the taped up wire is a fusible link to something.

I'll go see if I can find my 66 wiring diagram.

OK the large Red wire is going to one of the two screws on the front of the relay. Where is the black/white wire going with the spade connector ?
and the double green push connector wire?
and single black push connector wire?
and the black/white wire spade connector?

relay as it would be mounted the two large screws on the front of the horn relay are joined together like a jumper, so what ever you screw to one will send power to the other ? Is that black/white wire powering something ? Black is usually a ground wire Black/White wire no-clue?

Re: 1966 Chevelle Horn relay wiring..HELP !

Basically, those two screws are both on the B+ "junction terminal block"
The black/white wire goes over to the AMMETER (MALIBU SS) on the left side of the diagram.
Looks like that diagram shows one red wire feeding the B+ Jct terminal block and three more wires besides that black/white coming from it. (heater relay, voltage regulator, power top switch)
The green wires send power to the horns.
The solid black wire is going to the horn button (the horn button sends a ground through it to energize the relay)

Those four wires in the background behind the relay in that picture look like they might be to the voltage regulator. ???

Maybe someone with a 66 will chime in.

Re: 1966 Chevelle Horn relay wiring..HELP !

Dean's on the money...

The green wires feed the actual horns. You will plug this into the connector that has the oddly shaped nylon surround around it. You will plug the black wire into the terminal that has the square shaped nylon surround around it (closest to the horn relay's mounting bracket).

The red wire can connect to either screw. The back/white wire can connect to either screw. We will have to assume you have the correct harness for your vehicle (only cars equipped with factory AMMETERs will have the black/white wire).

-If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
