Bad alternator

My friends t bucket is draining the battery overnight. I put a meter in line w/the negative cable, and theres a 350ma draw. If I disconnect the flat connector on the back of the alternator the draw stops. What do you think - bad alternator?

Thanks
Vince

Re: Bad alternator

I"d pull the alternator and have AutoZone check it.

Re: Bad alternator

This unit has the stud on the back for the charge wire and a flat-blade connector. Does this make it a 3 wire alternator? Summit tech say just use a one-wire and disconnect the flat connector, but I dont know?

Re: Bad alternator

That's a 3-wire. Made by Powermaster?? Should operate just fine as a 3-wire but if that alternator is being sold as a 1-wire, you can try what he said. Then I'd think I'd talk to the alternator company's tech reps.
