70 Chevelle M&H engine harness replacement

Im considering replacing my engine harness due to it being a little butchered. Not to bad but enough that I want to change it to make it look better under the hood. I'm also switching to an HEI dist to go along with my new motor.

I did a search and it looks like M&H is a source for this harness.
I'm just looking for feedback on M&H and the quality of their work.
Has anybody done this with the harness from M&H and how did it go?
Are there any other sources for a harness?

Thanks,
Roger

Re: 70 Chevelle M&H engine harness replacement

I installed a M&H engine harness in my '70 last year. I had the harness modified for a MSD ignition which basically eliminated the resistor wire and supplied a full 12V source.

Worked out well...

You'll get a great consensus on M&H, EXCELLENT product and people! I rewired my entire car with their stuff. The best harnesses available, no question. They have great service too.

As far as the wire change, if you haven't ordered yet, you can have M&H make the switch for you for a small additional fee. They can customize your harness if you let them know what you have. I swapped out the wire myself and it was really easy. Make sure you have the correct terminal though.

Good luck.

Re: 70 Chevelle M&H engine harness replacement

if you want to just clean up the harness and ad an hei source wire. i suggest removing the engine harness you have and unwrap it. remove the resister wire and replace with an hei wire. also remove the wires that are not needed after the updated add ons. i did this with help and support from these fine members. and when finished the harness was very basic and worked great and neat. also helps in knowledge of the troubleshooting if you ever need to. Re: 70 Chevelle M&H engine harness replacement

Thanks for the suggustions. I havn't ordered yet, just putting out a feeler on M&H. I'll have to take a good look at the harness this weekend, as Michael n Mississippi has a good point. I don't have any problems reworking my harness. I just never thought of it. I was thinking eeeeasy, not saving $.
Michael, did you rewrap your harness with the "original" type tape?

Thanks again

yes it looks as good as new. very straightforward harness. also get an extra roll and while you have the bulkhead removed , look at the forward harness and tidy it up also. hey its not just a way to save money, its a pride thing.

Re: 70 Chevelle M&H engine harness replacement

Have used M&H exclusively for the last 10 years. Done several cars with their stuff. Always top notch and never a problem. Excellent Tech support /knowledge in case you need it.
They talked me out of a one wire alternator conversion I was considering, had the knowledge to back up thier reccomendation.
A+ in my book and the first I call when I need a harness
