testing a Charge.... 67 SS

Where do I put my voltage gauge to test if the 396 is charging? I just have the simple tester that has about 20-30 setting and a black and red wires, will this work? I recently put another voltage regulator on it and hoped it fixed the charging problem.

Thanks TEAM CHEVELLE!

Black on neg. battery cable and red on pos. cable or large hot wire on back of alternator.

Should show somewhere around 14 volts

Thats correct Wes, you should see around 14 volts on the bat posts while the engine is running.

What I did was to install a mechanical set of gauges.Volt meter -oil gauge-and Temperature gauge. They work much better than stock.
