Ignitor II and Flamethrower II install (HELP)

Thought this was going to be relatively easy the way Pertronix explained it. I have a 1968 Chevelle 307 cui with point type ignition,
Removed the coil resistor wire and yellow wire coming from solenoid.
Removed points and condenser. Installed module from Ignitor II as
directed did have to install shim washer provided to close the gap between Mag ring and module to 0.050". I ran a bypass 12 awg wire
from the Ign. terminal in my fuse block to the + side of the coil along with the red wire from module and black wire to - side of the coil.
tucked the resistor and yellow wire from starter away out of sight.
Thought all was good hooked up the Battery Turns over won't run.
What am I missing?

On my 68 SS 396 I did the same as you when I installed a Pertronix 3. Engine turned over but wouldn't start. I had to reinstall the yellow wire from the starter back to the coil. The 12 awg wire from the IGN spade wasn't providing a full 12 volts. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill I"ll try it, did you have to change anything with the ignition switch?

Re: Ignitor II and Flamethrower II install (HELP)

Nothing was changed on the ignition switch. It turns out after research and help from forum members that the Ign spade that your running your 12 volts through to the coil doesn't give a full 12 volts while cranking. I confirmed this with a meter. Once I reinstalled the yellow wire it worked fine and I haven't had any problems related to that. Hope this helps.

You can confirm this by checking voltage at your coil+ terminal in both start and run ign key positions.

Your just jealous because you can't hear the voices!

Re: Ignitor II and Flamethrower II install (HELP)

This probably wouldn't be an issue if the stock wiring system didn't have such a huge voltage drop from the battery to the fuse panel.
