ok the newest thing. i just finished getting the gas gauge working. I did all work from the top, dashboard removed. I had the gauge pod plug in and out to reach the fuel gauge. While i thought all was working well, I took the car out tonight and some strange things happened. 1st, the gas gauge goes to zero, then the blinker indicator lights go on steady. 2 minutes later all goes back to normal, minutes later, same issues, then back to normal. any clues what might be doing this? I do have 1 unterminated ground wire with a sta-con crimp that I forgot to insulate and remove is laying in that area.

Definitely sounds like a ground problem. Might want to take a look at the sticky right above your post, sixth one down.
