ignition switch trouble

69 ss 4 speed restoring this car wasn't running when I brought it in,put in a new wiring harness for a hei dist. anyway the engine want to crank as soon as the key hit the acc. position don't know if wiring or switch tried adjusting the switch act the same thanks for your help.....

Sounds like it's in backwards (if that's possible) since the start and acc are at either end on the switch.. Does is go into acc when you hit start?

Like I said in your other post. You may have the wrong ignition switch in the car. Was the steering column changed to a tilt column. Tilt and non tilt columns ignition switches are different. They operate in reverse to each other.

want to start in acc mode in other words you don't have to push key forward a the way this is the original part and column only diff is new engine wiring harness for a hei dist

You do know the acc position is all the way past stop and lock right? Sounds more like it's trying to start in the run position. Do you have the small wires on the starter hooked up correctly?

Sounds like solenoid S and R terminals are wired backwards.
