Hei distributor with factory re-pop tach

HI I am having problems with my tach it does not respond on dash gauge, put in engine wiring harness from auto wire, with up dated wiring for hei distributor. its gm distributor, and on wiring harness there is a pink and yellow wires in one clip that will fit into the tach labeled connection, does there have to be a clip into one labeled battery? also brown wire coming out of dash wiring harness does that have to clip somewheres, it originally went to coil. Thanks

Pink/yellow wire goes to the "IGN" part of the coil, a tach wire should be a single tan wire. Yu can just crimp/solder a femaleterminal on it and plug it in. There is a proper black terminal if you care to locate and install. If you've got the AAW harness for an HEI, I'm surprised its not already on there.

In this pic, the tach hooks to the blank terminal.
