External to internal regulator conversion

Hi, new member here and want to say thanks in advance to anyones input on this! Sorry not a big electrical guy but trying to learn! 70 Chevelle with external regulator currently and I am upgrading the alternator to a 150A with internal regulator 12SI. What I am trying to figure out, is if i can just take the power from the alternator and directly to the battery with an in line fuse as there is also power coming from the horn relay back to the battery also? Or do I have to follow the original wiring harness and route to the horn relay first and back out and across as it is originally?

Thanks!

Derrick

Re: External to internal regulator conversion

Hello. Check here for conversion kits. Makes it real easy.

CONVERSION KITS - AUTOMOTIVE WIRING HARNESS

Worked for me just fine in my 72 when I moved to a 12si internally regulated alternator

Re: External to internal regulator conversion

Thanks! I have the conversion kit already which made it easy to delete the external regulator. Just trying to see if that power run from the alternator to the horn relay is needed over just making a much shorter run and going strait to the battery since there is already power coming from the horn relay to the battery.
