No power

just did head work and new cam. Wanted to fire it up today. Turned over ok but had a small ground wire from my electric fan get pinched and short out. Now have no power. No blown fuses, no power at all. The wiring harness is ten years old Painless, can't see anything wrong. Had to walk away. Where do I start? Will put the battery back in and start checking things with meter. Any ideas would be helpful. Frustrated, thanks.

Yep, what he said, if it pinched, maybe it cut through and no longer grounds.

It's a 69 Elcamino. I think I pinched the wire when I put battery back in. I understand the wire must have touched something else to short. Got out of car and saw smoke, quickly removed batt cables. Didn't see anything wrong other than one melted wire. I had to walk away. May go to garage later and take a better look and start checking with volt meter.

Re: No power

I assume that you know about the fusible link the connects to the pigtail on the positive battery cable and goes to the terminal on the core support behind the battery.
Sounds like it may have burned out.

Dean, not sure if my painless harness has a fusable link. Put it in ten years ago. I'll check it tonight. Thx
