'70 Chevelle dash/wire harness

My 1970 Chevelle Malibu has a Monte Carlo dash and wire harness. Would like to install SS dash and gauges. Do I have to change the wire harness (I'm sure I do)? Will also be installing new console and would like to purchase both console and harness from NPD. Is a Monte Carlo dash the same as a SS Chevelle dash? (Doubtful) Same goes for the wire harness, are they the same? I can't seem to find good ones at salvage yards here in FL. I have wire harness booklet and Chilton's for 1970 Chevelle but they don't seem to be of much help either.

As you can guess, I need all the help I can get on this matter. Team Chevelle has been the most informative for me and I learn a lot from your members as well!! Thanks for any info I can get!!

The Monte dash is the same as the Chevelle dash, the only difference is the Monte has a wood metal panel on the dash. The harness is the same for both cars but keep in mind when ordering the harness you get the one that matches the dash either a gauge dash (amp, tach, water, and fuel gauge) or its a dummy light dash (alt light, large fuel gauge, oil light and water light).

are you going to try & use the dash harness that's in the car now ? if so I'm pretty sure you can get a jump over harness that'll let you use gauges. it comes with direction on which wires to connect from the idiot lights to the gauges. I'm not sure about the console though. aaw wire should have what you need, including an entire harness. one of our members is connected with aaw & is always on here helping out. M & H is also a good source. I've used them both. good luck
