'68 Dash Bulb Sockets

OK, got my next issue with the wiring in this '68 el Camino dash...

2 of the sockets that plug into the back of the dash are gone beyond repair. Checked on the internet and can't seem to find any correct ones? Anyone know where to buy them or have a few spare they could part with?

They are the plastic housing, single wire with metal ground that clips into the dash lamp holes, like the one pictured, need at least 2 good ones with 3"-4" of wire coming out the back.....

I think I may have some of those left over from another project. I'll check and get back to you.

Re: '68 Dash Bulb Sockets

Found several but no wire or contact in them. The sockets are new if you can use them PM your address and I'll mail them to you.

I'm pretty sure that American Autowire carries replacement sockets.

I thought they were all the same......didnt notice you had one wire.

one wire must be the difference/ i have a dash in my crawl space but its too cold to check/ to confirm if same 68 69. but since they both had one year dash, who knows.

sorry for any confusion

Re: '68 Dash Bulb Sockets

I did epoxy one back together with JB Weld many years ago on my 69 and haven't had any problems with it since.

Re: '68 Dash Bulb Sockets

Bruce sent four Priority 3 day mail today, USPS might even deliver them by Christmas
The 2 terminal sockets are for the warning lights, IIRC maybe the GEN light since it does not have a body ground.

Thanks Phillip, will let you know when they get here!

Might need replacements if I can't figure out how to setup the ones you send since they don't have the wire/terminal in them. At least I know I can get full replacements! :-)

Re: '68 Dash Bulb Sockets

You will have to cut the wire in yours and feed it through the socket then solder it back together and insulate the wire. I also sent some contacts that fit in the socket but they are solid. Looks to be designed to have a female bullet connector attach to them.

Re: '68 Dash Bulb Sockets

Think Dorman makes a socket that works. Recall a thread on it. Try a search with word "Dorman". You could get them at local auto parts,
