'71 mystery connector

I have been studying wiring diagrams but have not been able to identify a connector in my '71 LS5/4speed engine harness (AAW factory fit harness). It's a two bladed female connector with one terminal having two tan wires and the other having a blue and green wire in it. Anyone know what this connector is for?

Re: '71 mystery connector

Possibly the TCS system. If it is it would go to the solenoid that controls the vacuum to the distributor.

Re: '71 mystery connector

Where about is the connector in the harness. I have a 71 Malibu and don't remember seeing a connector that looks like that on my AAW factory fit harness. I don't have the external regulator and that connector has a locking tab on it which I think the external voltage regulator may have. The only connector on my harness that has that locking tab is the alternator and it only has one wire going into each terminal.

Re: '71 mystery connector

It breaks out of the harness at about the same place as the distributor wire. Near the tcs relays.

Re: '71 mystery connector

You got me. My harness was also made up for an HEI distributor but even if it was points it wouldn't look like that. I know I have a couple wires hanging down behind my motor that I didn't use because the little box on the firewall was gone. I just looked in my 71 Chassis Service Manual and don't see anything in there either. I'll look at my harness tomorrow I know I have another spot where I have some wire hidden.

Re: '71 mystery connector

Both my firewall relays are correctly wired up. I'll email AAW tomorrow, their tech support is pretty good. The mystery will be solved.

Re: '71 mystery connector

Ok, so I heard back from AAW. That connector goes to the CEC solenoid mounted on the carb. I will be running a non-stock Holley carb so I will either tuck this wire out of sight or fab up a bracket and use it with the Holley. I am kind of intrigued with this CEC system and would like for it to function, the rest of it is there.... Also, I highly recommend AAW. Excellent quality and great customer support.

Re: '71 mystery connector

Checked mine today, I do have that wire in my harness too but mine has a brown connector end with the locking tab on it not white.
