MSS Street Fire Issues

I'm having trouble getting my new crate 454 to run and idle. and I may have stumbled across the issue.

If I look at the module to coil wires of another ( running fine ) 454 distributer and compare them to my new MSD Street Fire 8362 distributer they are in different locations. The module to coil wire locations on the 2 distributers don't agree, it almost looks like the MSD wiring harness was assembled wrong??

I'm thinking they should match locations since it based on the GM distributer and this is the source of my problem?

Any help would be great, the tech hotline isn't active until Mon am....

Re: MSS Street Fire Issues

That dist is really similar to the "fake HEI" sold for $53 on ebay and similar places. I wouldn't count on anything about it following well known conventions. Last one I looked at didn't even have the ground from the coil frame to the center terminal of the 3 wire connector. Seemed to have a little issue with very short life on the modules. Guy never got more than 5 miles from home with it.

If you get tired of it here's a known good part:

costs a fraction of a complete MSD real deal setup, works great as long as the owner doesn't start installing hot rod coils and modules and stuff. It doesn't need anything, buy it, drop it, run it. The one in my Chevelle is over 20 years old.

Tom Terrific or Terrible Tom, depending on the phase of the moon, passing cosmic rays or other factors not fully understood except by my wife.

Re: MSS Street Fire Issues

I've heard a lot of negatives about the Street Fire line.

This posts has pictures as well as some unsettling comparisons.

Thanks for the help guys ...it ended up being the timing that was way off, ...runs good now, but I'll see how the MSD holds up hang on to my old GM dist.
