Re: Reproduction Tach and HEI Distributor

Fit the tach, using jumper wires, to another vehicle, and see if it works.

Re: Reproduction Tach and HEI Distributor

Got my tach out of the dash and hooked up to a tester. It was indeed bad. Got it switched out for a new one, that was tested and works. Let's try this again...

Great you found the issue, bad it was a new defective unit. It does happen, a lot more than most think it does.

Re: Reproduction Tach and HEI Distributor

Yes, bad it was a defective unit and bad that I had to pull the dash to fix it. We were probably 3 weeks from finishing the restoration. Just a slight delay but should be back on track next week. Thanks everyone for the help!

Re: Reproduction Tach and HEI Distributor

I bought the corvette filter on ebay, my jumpy eratic tach would not work at all with it.
after it removed it I cleaned up he routing of my tach wire and draped it over the spark plug bracket, so it is not near any other wires or metal
now it works fine/
I have a 66 SS with Accell HEI and old vintage sun pro tach
