I just took apart my dash, and now my headlights don't come on for about 10 seconds after I pull the switch.

The dash lights come on immediately, and I don't have to jiggle the switch. The lights just come on by themselves about 10 seconds after I pull out the switch.

I have not had time to investigate it yet, so it might just be a loose connection at the switch or something simple.

The fact that it delays about 10 seconds each time makes me think it might have something to do with the thermal switch/fuse thing inside the switch.

Any suggestions?

I agree with you. It does sound like the light switch. I assume you have standard headlights and both low beams work. Does it do it with only 1 headlight connected?

Today I had to wiggle the handle to get the lights on.

I think the problem is that I don't have the handle in all the way.

Ill try to remove the handle and reinstall it and see if that fixes it.

If it doesn't fix it, I guess I will take apart the switch and make sure I didn't break anything inside when I removed or reinstalled the handle last time.

FYI-Headlight switch is an over-the-counter part. Have an almost new one out of a late 70s Nova in my 64.

Thanks for the info.

I will check into getting a new one.

I had it apart a while back to clean up the contacts and there were a lot of worn parts in there.
