'70 SS radio inner knob

Hoping someone can help. I am wanting to know which of the 2 below inner knobs is the correct one for a '70 SS Chevelle. I am thinking it's the first one but not sure.
Thanks in advance.

Neither. They are for a Malibu dash (70-72). The SS used the deep knob and was unique to the Monte or SS dash.

Re: '70 SS radio inner knob

So the first one would be different to this one?

I covered this in the "mistakes" page:

Hi Joe.
I have checked out your mistakes page when I did a search, it was very helpful and led me to believe that I was on the right track, but now I'm not sure as I haven't been able to find an ad with more than one photo that is conclusive!

Re: '70 SS radio inner knob

Damien,

I would think someone out there reproduces the SS/monte carlo style knobs for '70s, I haven't looked. Maybe not?

I can post some pics (probably be a few days) of some original ones I have.

What kind of radio do you have? This matters as it affects what inner knob you need behind the tuning knob.

Re: '70 SS radio inner knob

Joe, this is the radio I have;

http://www.radiosforoldcars.com/newradio0F.htm

The problem I have is that the radio comes with inner knobs to suit a standard dash, but when I read the installation instructions it says if you have an SS dash you need different knobs which are not included with the radio. Doesn't tell you that when you buy it, only later. I would have thought for the extra few dollars (or cents!) they may include both sets of fader inners just to cover the bases. Silly me!

Re: '70 SS radio inner knob

Oh, I see...

Are those radios meant to accept original knobs or do they make their own knobs (that look original) meant to only fit their radios?

I'm curious, 'cause in their pictures the control knobs behind the outer knobs are mounted upside down, the "tabs" shouldn't be facing up like that ...maybe just a photo oops?
