Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

I am reading this post since I am getting ready to wire my El Camino. All forward wiring was removed before I bought it. I know the intermediate ribbon harness is not reproduced. But the dufus that stripped this car cut what I assume was a connector from the ribbon harness. Am I correct that there was a connector that plugged into the main dash harness?

Anyone know where one can find a 69 Malibu (with a/c) wiring diagram? Or...how close is it to the 1966 one?

Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

You people should really pop for the $20 and get an original CCW schematic! Well worth the money. Saved me a heck of a lot of head scratching when I rewired my '66 a year ago.

Classic Car Wiring . Com : Home of the original color laminated classic car wiring diagram

Full color, super easy to understand, and laminated so you can make notations.

You'll be surprised at the makes and models offered on their website.

Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

Would anyone have a diagram of the power window wiring for the 67 Chevelle coupe? I am especially interested in the
main harness and the connection to the quarter windows.

Thanks

Lee

Does anyone have a schematic of the knee knocker tach wiring in the 66 Chevelle?

Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

Thanks, Davewho1, I had the original harness in a box with all the rest of the wiring of this basket case and saw the markings on the back of the tach, just wanted to be sure of the wiring, never hurts to ask before you let the smoke out. The tach wiring isn't shown on a normal schematic. JDV

Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

I think that the 66 diagram post is wrong for some 66 chevelle's. At least it is different from my front harness of a Dec built 66 SS from Flint and a Nov built 66 327 with AC from Kansas city. The main difference is in the radiator support junction box and the alternator/horn relay area. Mine is more similar to a 67 chevelle except for the fusible link that was added in 67. The diagrams posted in in the AIM and chassis service manual has made my life a little complicated. I think the wiring was changed sometime after the publication of these diagrams. Are you listing Dave?

Re: 1966 Wiring Schematics/Diagrams/Lamps/Fuses

I posted the factory B&W & aftermarket color schematics, Jim.

I have no idea if there were revisions later, but it most likely would be well-known if so.

I don't know nuttin- I just posted what I have. Nobody else has ever questioned the factory schematics as far as I know.

Perhaps previous owners screwed with the wiring on your 2 examples?

@jeffschevelle - any thoughts?

I took the wiring myself of the nov built 66 327 AC car 4 dr hard top myself. It had been sitting in a field in SD last licensed in 1981when I hauled it home. It has every last clip and those little plastic clips used to attach to the inner fender, firewall, rubber groments and correct tape with no splices or anything amiss. As for my Flint dec car everything also appears original and factory, except for the wire from the alternator to the junction and the tape on that area. Not correct tape and the wire appears to be 10R instead of 12R and a newer replacement and the missing clip used to attach the harness to the inner fender. I am unsure how to tell the correct wire size; but the on the original harness from the SD car the wires from rad support junction to the split and from the split to horn relay are the same size and I think 10R. Where the wire from the split to the alternator is smaller and I think 12R. On my car all three wires appear to be the same, with the one to the alternator seeming to have been replaced. My + battery cable is a replacement and I think they used 10R to connect the junction box.
