70 Chevelle Radio questions..

Hello guys and gals, I just got done restoring my Am/8track radio, got it installed and it works great..... until the engine is running... I think there may be some of those little radio resistors missing, but I don't know where to look or how many there are on a 70.. also, is there supposed to be a hood ground on this year like on my 67 that is located on the passenger side cowl? any info would be greatly appreciated!!!! , Jeff

Re: 70 Chevelle Radio questions..

Jeff do you have the three copper ground straps on the car? There should be one on each valve cover to the firewall and one on the passenger side frame to the body.I think without uncovering my car there are three resistors, one on the coil, one by the regulator and one by the heater core. As far as those hood straps I've seen low mile original cars without them. Mine did something like that and I checked the radio to make sure it was grounded and that fixed it.

We call them condensers, not "resistors"

Re: 70 Chevelle Radio questions..

Jeff my original 70SS with the functional cowl induction never came with that hood grounding device. I have seen 70's with it but it is on the drivers side of the hood. Maybe someone with a 70 with that strap could get you a photo. Mine has worked fine for the last 43 years without one.
