Hei help

Can someone tell me what the black & gray wires are for on new HIE GM distributer (pt # 88961867) I have the normal three wire plug in connecter plus the two extra. Are the for a rev limiter?
Thanks,
Ken

Re: Hei help

black is engine ground...grey is tach output. Go to msdperformance.com to see how to program your rev limiter if the HEAT 83647 module is in your dist.

Re: Hei help

Thanks Craig,
What fooled me is the paper work that came with my ZZ427 says that the distributer included with this engine is now equipped with an alternative tachometer feed (green wire) and rev limiter. The rev limiter has been pre-set to the recommended MAX RPM for the engine (6500 RPM). Problem is there is no green wire..??

Re: Hei help

I got the ZZ427 too and in the paperwork that came with it said it had a rev limiter that was preset to 6500. I went to the MSD website and downloaded the install instructions for the "MSD HEAT Digital HEI Module, PN 83647 . This explaines the setup quite well.
